What's the news?
Mazda has confirmed that we will see its all-new MX-5 roadster in full for the first time on September 3 this year. Following a simultaneous unveiling in the US, Japan and Spain MX-5 fans will take part in a two-day 25th anniversary event tagged 'Long live the Roadster'.
Mazda has already revealed the SkyActiv chassis for the car and said that the new model will be at least 100kg lighter than before while packing more power, but the design remains under wraps. "The MX-5 is the product that best epitomises Mazda's convention-defying spirit and our love of driving," says Mazda Motor Europe President and CEO Jeff Guyton. "It has been grabbing people's attention for 25 years, and with the new-generation model we're aiming to share this passion with yet another generation of drivers."
Anything else?
The fourth generation model has been developed in conjunction with Fiat and will spawn either a Fiat or Alfa Romeo badged sibling.
