What's the news?
Bentley has taken the business of launching ultra-rare cars to a new height. Welcome then to the Birkin Mulsanne, a limited edition that derives its name from the legendary 'Bentley Boy' gentleman racer from the 1920s and 1930s, Sir Henry 'Tiger' Tim Birkin. Only 22 of the bespoke editions will be available to the most discerning (and hugely wealthy) buyers and the car will only be offered for sale in Europe.
Exterior
It's a Bentley, so one expects unrivalled opulence. However, the Birkin Mulsanne also offers bespoke features that are wholly unique to the car. For starters, a choice of three unique colour combinations are offered. These include Ghost White, Damson and a striking two-tone Fountain Blue and Dark Sapphire finish.
Interior
Once ensconced inside, the Birkin Mulsanne shows a unique 21-inch steering wheel with 3D 'Flying B' logos stitched into the headrests, inlaid into the fascia and rear picnic tables. If Sir or Madam are travelling, a specially tailored luggage set with bespoke numbering resides in the boot.
To help the troubled world glide by, entertainment in the form of a DVD player with 8-inch LCD headrest screens, a high-end Naim sound system and Wi-Fi with iPads expertly integrated into the picnic tables are included. The seats are handmade with the highest quality stitching in a diamond pattern. The perfect place to admire the crafted knurled metalwork.
Mechanicals
Bentley says there is no change to the specification to the standard car. Prospective owners should expect a surging 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 505hp and a whopping 1,019Nm of torque. Enough to propel the 2.7-tonne limited edition behemoth from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds and reach 184mph. In other words, more than adequate.
Anything else?
Right then, sorry about this, back to reality. The car starts at €248,400 in the UK (that's approximately £206,500 before taxes) and is available to order, right away. As there's only 22 Birkin Mulsanne editions being built, the very moneyed will need to act fast.
