What's the news?
Volkswagen is doing its bit to keep business costs under control with the new Caddy BlueMotion. Capable of 61.4mpg on the combined cycle, the new version of the van goes on sale in February priced from £14,600 plus VAT.
Exterior
The Caddy BlueMotion is available only in standard wheelbase form and can be identified by body colour side guard strips and special wheel trims. It also sits 27mm closer to the ground to cut aerodynamic drag and rides on 15-inch wheels with low rolling resistance tyres.
Interior
It might not contribute to the fuel economy but the BlueMotion does get blue and black interior trim to set it apart from other Caddys too.
Mechanicals
Power comes from a 1.6-litre, common rail turbodiesel engine that produces 102hp and 250Nm of torque. To boost economy there is a recalibrated engine management system. As well as returning over 61mpg the CO2 emissions are 119g/km.
Anything else?
According to Volkswagen, BlueMotion owners could save £744 a year in fuel costs when compared with the standard, 102hp TDI model - assuming diesel costs £1.40 per litre and they both cover 30,000 miles annually.
