What's the news?
Audi has opened the order book for its new TT coupé with prices ranging from £29,770 to £35,335 and the first cars due to arrive in December. Initially there will be a choice of Sport or S line specification and 2.0-litre petrol or diesel engines.
Exterior
Sport specification includes 18-inch wheels and Xenon headlamps, while the S line can be identified by its 19-inch, five-spoke wheels and full LED head- and tail lamps. There is also unique S line body styling and the option of sports suspension, which lowers the ride height by 10mm.
Interior
Interior equipment includes Alcantara and leather combination seats, Multi Media Interface with touch pad for data entry, Bluetooth and keyless go. Both models feature the Audi 'virtual cockpit', which replaces the traditional gauges in the instrument cluster with a high resolution LCD screen. The display can be switched between standard mode - with the speedo and rev counter given prominence - and 'infotainment mode' where the main dials are smaller and the free space used to display other information, such as the navigation map.
To make more use of the instrument display it is necessary to order the Technology Package, which brings with it a hard disk navigation system and Audi Connect internet service. The system gives access to features such as Google Street View, petrol station locations with price information as well as flight and train times. Customers can also access social media services or stream music.
Mechanicals
Transmission options for the 230hp, 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine are six-speed manual with front-wheel drive or six-speed S tronic twin-clutch gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive. The 184hp, 2.0-litre TDI model is only offered with manual transmission and front-wheel drive.
Anything else?
If the current engine options aren't powerful enough there is a 310hp Audi TTS in the pipeline. Dealers will start taking orders for this model in October with the first deliveries due in March 2015.
