What's the news?
A new confection is about to hit the shelves of sweet shops around the world. Don't adjust your screen folks: this is still a car website... The sweet in question is a Porsche 911-shaped item. Oh dear.
Porsche's global ambassador and tennis star Maria Sharapova also happens to be the founder and creative director of a premium sweet brand called Sugarpova. Her connection with Porsche is a year old now and she has used the opportunity to bring in two of her business connections, that is Porsche and Sugarpova, together in the form of 'Speedy', a yoghurt gummy in the Porsche 911's iconic shape.
Sharapova, who turned 27 this month, said, "The 911 is my favourite Porsche because its shape is so perfect." Talking about Speedy, she added, "As an ambassador of the brand, it's thrilling for me to combine my passions in such a totally unexpected and exciting way."
Anything else?
Those interested in Sugarpova's Porsche can either check out www.sugarpova.com or wait to find it at one of the select retail outlets soon. Part of the earnings from Speedy will be donated to the Maria Sharapova Foundation. Whether it will be offered in the UK is as yet unknown.
