New supercar manufacturers crop up from time to time; one of the latest, VUHL (pronounced 'vool'), will launch its lightweight supercar, the 05, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11-14. The name stands for 'Vehicles of Ultra-lightweight and High performance'. Details are vague at the moment but the Mexican company has an impressive list of technical partners.

Magna Steyr, Multimatic and Ford have all been named in connection with the venture, which boasts of embodying the best technology from around the world. The handling was sorted in the UK while bodies will be built in Canada with chassis production and final assembly taking place in Mexico City.

The VUHL 05 is described as a road legal, lightweight supercar that has been engineered for the track. Styling is a bit of a mystery but the press release talks about aesthetics guided by function.

Two brothers, Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, are the brains behind VHUL and their Mexican/American design agency, Etxe, penned the 05. The brothers have a background in motor sport as their father Guillermo Echeverria senior built and campaigned formula and GT cars over a 30-year period.

More details of the VUHL 05 are promised soon.
