What's the news?
ABT has managed to get its hands on one of the limited edition Audi A1 quattros, with a predictably big leap in engine output.
Exterior
Visually there is nothing about the ABT-tuned A1 quattro that differs from the standard model. Pictured above in its black-on-white colour scheme you'd be hard pushed to miss it anyway thanks to its large rear spoiler, low front bumper and bespoke white alloy wheels.
Interior
As with the outside of the car, ABT has given no word regarding changes to the A1 quattro's interior. This means that Audi's high quality sports seats, flat bottomed leather steering wheel and satnav system still remain in the faster model.
Mechanicals
While ABT has changed nothing with regards to appearance, it's definitely made some changes underneath. The standard 256hp, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine has had a power increase; now developing 307hp. Torque is up too, from 350- to 400Nm. These two increases have managed to slash three tenths of a second from its 0-62mph time at 5.4 seconds; although economy and emissions figures remain unchanged.
We also have assurance from ABT's Managing Director, Hans-Jürgen Abt, that while power is up, the A1 quattro isn't a snarling, twitchy beast around town: "If needed, the A1 quattro will react when you press on the pedal, but it is also easy to drive through narrow city streets."
Anything else?
At the moment, we don't have any information with regards to price or availability; but expect a fair hike over the standard model's £41,020 price tag.
So, if you were one of the unlucky ones who wanted an A1 quattro but missed out on the 19 examples the UK got, give ABT a call.
