What's the news?
ABT, one of the foremost tuners of everything from the Volkswagen Group, has just released a sportier version of the Audi A6 TDI. Called the ABT AS6, the upgraded car will certainly make buyers stand out from owners of the run-of-the-mill models; and has plenty of punch to back up the revised looks.
Exterior
From first glance it's obvious that this is no normal A6. Clear differences include the new ABT alloys, ranging in size from 19- to 21-inches, and the new squared-off exhaust pipes at the back. The subtle body kit comprising of front and rear spoilers and a set of side skirts are not just for show either - we're told that they've all been designed with aerodynamics in mind.
Interior
As no details have been released regarding interior changes, we can expect that ABT has kept Audi's standard high quality fit, finish and equipment for the AS6.
Mechanicals
The biggest change for the AS6 is performance related. The AS6 is mostly powered by a variety of uprated 2.0- and 3.0-litre turbodiesel units; however ABT has also tuned the 3.0-litre TFSI petrol motor. Figures from all engines reveal improvements over the standard variants, power up from 177- to 205hp for the 2.0-litre TDI, with outputs up to 360hp and a whopping 700Nm of torque from the 3.0-litre TDI. The biggest power hike is with the petrol model though - increased from 300- to 420hp. Suspension changes come in the form of ABT's own springs, or an electrically adjustable air suspension system. A Sport Brake system has also been added featuring black callipers complete with the ABT logo.
Anything else?
Prices have not been released for the ABT AS6, but expect a fair premium over the standard equivalent model. Order books are open now.
