Perennial niche filler Audi has announced the final details of a super-hot TT to plug a hole that we did not know existed. First shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March the new TT RS plus will be available in both Coupé and Roadster body styles with prices beginning at £48,945.
Available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic twin clutch transmission the TT RS takes the 2.5-litre, five-cylinder TFSI engine from the already quick TT RS and turns the dial up to eleven. The result is 360hp, 465Nm of torque, 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds (if you plumb for the S tronic enabled Coupé) and a top speed of 174mph. Despite the performance Audi claims that the Coupé should achieve a combined economy figure of 33.2mpg - and the Roadster 32.8 mpg.
The Audi TT RS plus comes with 19-inch 'Rotor' design titanium-look alloy wheels that replace the 18-inch units fitted to the 'standard' car. A single frame radiator grille with matt aluminium surround and polished anthracite diamond-pattern mesh set the TT RS plus apart visually while a standard sports exhaust system does it aurally.
Standard equipment includes the Technology Package, comprising of satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone preparation and Audi Music Interface iPod connection.
The TT RS plus models are priced from £48,945 to £52,265 with order books due to open this month. First deliveries are scheduled for early summer.
