What's all this about?
Alpine hasn't yet launched its glorious modern retake of the A110 sports car onto the world in road-going trim, but that hasn't stopped the French company announcing a one-make race series for adapted versions of the mid-engined lovely.
What do we know of the specification?
Not a great deal. Signatec, part of Alpine's LMP2 race team, will design, build, FIA-homologate and sell these racing A110s to the interested teams, meaning Alpine says Signatec is entirely 'accountable' for the racers. They will feature a compulsory roll cage within, as befits all competition cars.
And where will the series run?
It will take place on European circuits only, with around 20 cars on the grid for each round. In many ways, it's a bit like the Alpine Cup of 1985-1988, which used Alpine GTA Europa Cup cars and which was a support series for European rounds of the F1 championship.
Anything else?
Yes, Alpine will make the official announcement of the A110 racing series via its Twitter social media channel today.
