What's all this about?

Mercedes-AMG has opened the order book for the new E 63 4MATIC+. The engine is downsized but the price is still substantial at £78,935, rising to £88,295 for the more potent E 63 S. There is also the E 63 S 4MATIC+ Edition 1, which costs £106,585. Customer cars are due to arrive this June.

What do you get for the money?

Standard equipment includes AMG Ride Control sports suspension, 19-inch AMG five twin-spoke alloy wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, COMAND Online with a 12.3-inch display and 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit display. Opt for the E 63 S and you get 20-inch AMG five twin-spoke alloy wheels, active dynamic engine mounts, AMG performance seats and a steering wheel finished in Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre. The E 63 S also comes with Drift Mode, which directs all the power to the rear wheels.
The Edition 1, based on the E 63 S, adds black 20-inch AMG cross-spoke wheels, designo Selenite Grey magno paint and AMG Night package. AMG sports seats and Dinamica steering wheel with yellow contrast stitching plus AMG carbon fibre trim are part of the interior package.

Any interesting options?

E 63 S and Edition 1 customers can specify AMG high-performance ceramic brakes for £6,995, while the AMG performance exhaust is a £1,000 option for all models. If the standard 155 mph electronically limited top speed is insufficient the E 63 S can be specified with the AMG Drivers package, which raises the limiter to 186 mph.
Customers wanting to personalise the E 63's appearance can choose the AMG carbon fibre package (front splitter, side sill panels, and rear bumper finished in carbon fibre) for £3,370. The £595 AMG Night package adds black detailing on the side sills, black exterior mirror housings and a black front splitter.

What about the E 63 estate?

There's no word on pricing for the estate, expect an update later this year.
