Is this the new Subaru XV?
No. Well, not yet, it's not. It's the Subaru XV Concept and it took its place on Subaru's stand in Geneva so that it could show 'Dynamic X Solid' to the world.
Dynamic X Solid? What on Earth are you blathering on about now?
That is the name of the design philosophy employed here, which will shape the look of all Subarus - not just the XV replacement - in the coming years. We happen to quite like the appearance of the car. If not the name of the ethos.
So what does DXS denote?
The XV Concept is a car with a 'solid, robust appearance' and a raised ground clearance, which taps right into the subconscious association we all make between Subaru and all-wheel drive.
And can you tell me any details about the XV Concept in particular?
It's 4,520mm long, 1,920mm wide, 1,570mm tall and it has a 2,670mm wheelbase, while the marque's 'hawk-eye' headlamps remain and they're repeated in the shape of the rear clusters. That paint job is called Glacier Khaki Silica and it is contrasted by the orange flashes on the grille, both bumpers, the roof rails and those tasty 19-inch aluminium wheels.
