What's all this about?
Subaru has updated the XV compact crossover for 2016; there are styling and interior updates plus improved economy. The enhanced model goes on sale next month with pricing unchanged over the 2015 car, starting at £21,995.
How do I spot the 2016 model?
There are two new colours, Hyper Blue and Dark Blue Metallic; if the paint doesn't give the game away look out for the redesigned front grille, bumper and 'hawk-eye' headlamps. At the rear there are LED light clusters and a boot spoiler. A new design of diamond-cut alloy wheels completes the visual changes.
Any new equipment?
The interior now includes a seven-inch touchscreen display to manage the navigation and in-car entertainment; a rear-view camera offers a 160-degree view on the screen when reversing. Voice control is fitted and can be used to control Apple iPhone and other iOS devices.
Higher quality materials have been specified for the interior with metallic and piano black trim plus contrasting stitching. The TFT instrument binnacle has been redesigned to emit a soft blue glow.
How much more economical is it?
Models fitted with the 2.0-litre diesel engine are said to be four per cent more efficient with the official fuel economy quoted as 52.3mpg with CO2 emissions reduced from 146- to 141g/km. The 2.0-litre petrol model is two per cent more economical at 43.5mpg when combined with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission. Manual models benefit from higher gear ratios for improved economy at motorway speeds.
