What's this all about?
SsangYong has added the option of four-wheel drive to the Tivoli compact SUV. Three models are available with prices starting at £17,100.
How does it work?
This is a part time four-wheel drive system; normally 100 per cent of the engine's output goes to the front wheels. The system monitors road conditions and splits power to both axles as needed. A 'lock mode' is available at speeds below 25mph, distributing drive equally between the axles for optimal traction.
The Tivoli 4x4 uses multi-link rear suspension said to offer increased wheel articulation for off-road grip. SsangYong has also given the Tivoli generous ground clearance for decent off-road performance.
Under the bonnet there is a 1.6-litre diesel engine that develops 115hp and 300Nm. Customers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic. Fuel economy for the manual is 60.1mpg with CO2 emissions of 123g/km.
What do you get?
Two trim levels are available with four-wheel drive, EX and ELX. The EX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control and leather upholstery. It also includes a seven-inch touch screen, rear-view camera and RDS/Bluetooth stereo system. ELX models can be ordered with manual or automatic transmission. Diamond-cut alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and rear privacy glass identify the higher spec model. Other features include keyless starting, TomTom navigation and parking sensors.
