What's this about?
The Volkswagen Polo has turned 40 so tuning company ABT has been tweaking performance parts to ensure that there's plenty of life in the current car.
What has it done now?
Starting with the 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine, ABT has reworked the control unit to free up some more power. The standard engine produces 110hp but this has been increased to 140hp by ABT, while torque levels have also risen from 175Nm as standard to 220Nm.
If that isn't quite enough power for you it has applied similar treatments to the larger 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine that sees power outputs rise to 230hp from the usual 192hp and pulling power up to 360Nm from 250Nm, meaning the same power levels as the larger Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Any other nice upgrades?
Yes, to help with handling the performance the car has been lowered by 25mm on the front axle and 30mm on the rear thus bringing down the centre of gravity. ABT is also offering beefy 18-inch alloy wheels that will help fill the arches.
The exterior is also available with a carbon surround for the third brake light, as well as a specific rear diffuser that incorporates an optional centrally-exiting sports exhaust system.
What about inside?
ABT simply offers customers branded floor mats or entrance LEDs that feature the ABT logo.
