What's this about?
If you have the latest Porsche 911 Targa 4 and want to enhance its looks or interior, German tuning firm TechArt has released details of its accessory packages. Created to complement the design characteristics of the Targa - the wide body, horizontal tail lamps and distinctive roll-over bar - the packages include styling, wheels, suspension and interior upgrades.
What do you get?
According to TechArt, the body modifications reduce aerodynamic lift as well as visually making the 911 look lower. Made from lightweight composites the 'Aerodynamic Kit' includes a two-part front splitter, rear spoiler and diffuser. Side skirts provide a visual link between the front and rear elements. Other details include the TechArt air-outlet grille, set into the top of the front bumper, and wing mirrors, which are available in either painted or carbon fibre finish.
Isn't that splitter vulnerable?
To prevent the fancy bodywork from coming off on the first speed hump encountered, the TechArt Hydraulic Noselift System can be ordered. This uses hydraulics to lift the front of the car, creating roughly 65mm more clearance at the front splitter. At speeds below 37mph the height can be controlled manually, whilst above that speed the suspension automatically adopts the lower setting.
What about wheels?
There are plenty of options for a personalised set of alloys; TechArt offers its 'Formula IV' twin five-spoke design in 20- and 21-inch sizes. Customers can choose a range of single- or bi-colour finishes from a selection described as having 'virtually no limits'.
And the interior?
The company name appears liberally throughout the interior; from the TechArt illuminated sill tread plates to the TechArt instrument dials. Elements of the exterior design can be incorporated into the cabin along with a carbon styling package, aluminium pedals and decorative stitching.
Anything else?
Two exhaust systems are available for the 911 Targa 4; the Sport Muffler Racing and Exhaust System Sport. The latter contains a valve, controlled by a button on the centre console, to produce a richer sound. It is also possible to use the full range of performance with the valve closed. TechArt exhaust systems can be identified by matt black or chrome tailpipes, which are also available for the standard Porsche exhaust.
