What's all this about?
Following the public debut in Paris of Jaguar's XE saloon, the company has launched an online configurator for prospective customers to specify their cars.
This isn't a new idea, is it?
No, most major manufacturers - Jaguar included - have this sort of facility on their websites for various models, but the fact it has gone live shows that the XE is moving ever nearer to launch.
And what can I do on the XE configurator?
Head over to www.jaguar.co.uk, where you can pick from the five trim lines - SE, Prestige, R-Sport, Portfolio and S - choose interior and exterior colours, and add lots and lots of hi-tech kit to bump up the price. Although satnav and Jaguar's new InControl infotainment system won't add to the ticket, as they're standard-fit range-wide.
Which is...?
The XE range starts from a very reasonable £26,995 on the road.
