What's all this about?
These are two design concepts based on Korean firm SsangYong's forthcoming B-segment SUV, currently referred to as the XIV.
And what is this pair called?
They are the XIV-Air and the XIV-Adventure, which feature some specific details that are relevant to their nameplates.
Like?
The Air has a T-top roof and an interior that has 'emotional design language inspired by the effect of a cool and silky breeze'.
Good grief - really?
Yup. It is also in the shape of a bird's wings in flight and has a white and dark blue two-tone colour scheme.
Move on to the Adventure, please.
It has a rugged exterior with bumper protectors, a roof rack and a search light.
A search light?!
Yes. Like the ones those Outback roughnecks used in the kangaroo-shooting scene in Crocodile Dundee.
You're going off on a totally irrelevant tangent. When do the Air and Adventure hit the showrooms?
No confirmation that they ever will, but the XIV is gearing up for its international launch soon, ahead of sales starting globally in 2015. It's a fairly conventional compact crossover, trying to play up to the brand's 'value for money' ethos by offering lots of equipment, the option of all-wheel drive, stop-start and two 1.6-litre engine choices (petrol or diesel). Think Kia of about seven years ago, and you're in the right ballpark.
