What's the news?
Oversteer fans rejoice - Subaru is slashing the price of the BRZ rear-drive coupé by a healthy £2,500. That means you can get into a BRZ SE Lux with a manual gearbox from just £23,995.
There are two reasons for the BRZ's sticker price fall. The first is to differentiate it from the forthcoming all-wheel drive WRX STI saloon, which will be Subaru's flagship performance model. The second is that there's a favourable pounds-to-yen exchange rate at the moment.
The BRZ price reduction will take effect from May 1 and will also see the automatic SE Lux start from £25,495. For that, you'll get Alcantara and leather seats, a Torsen limited-slip differential-equipped rear axle and paddle shift on the auto, plus one of the most thrilling rear-wheel drive chassis to have hit the motoring scene in recent years.
Anything else?
The WRX STI arrives in showrooms during May, priced from £28,995 (on-the-road) - £4,000 less than the previous model. In the last year, Subaru has also reduced the XV compact crossover's price.
