What's the news?
The third generation SsangYong Rexton W will arrive in the UK this winter with prices starting at £21,995; the off-roader can be ordered now. It is an 'extensively refreshed design' with a new look, 155hp diesel power and the choice of manual or automatic transmissions.
Exterior
SsangYong has given the Rexton a facelift with new front end styling. There is a wider front grille and reshaped headlamps, as well as a more sculpted front bumper. Two trim levels are available - SX and EX. The latter comes with parking sensors, rear privacy glass and sunroof.
Interior
Improved interior trim is part of the update with soft-touch materials, aluminium effect trim and chrome; leather is used to cover the steering wheel and gear lever as well. The EX trim level also comes with leather upholstery. When not required the rearmost row of seats can be stowed beneath the boot floor.
Mechanicals
A separate chassis is used with double wishbone front suspension and a live axle at the back, with five-link location. Power comes from SsangYong's own 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine with a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic from Mercedes-Benz.
Several electronic driver aids are standard including Hill Descent Control, Brakeforce Distribution and Active Rollover Protection.
Anything else?
The Rexton is rated to tow up to three tonnes; enough to manage a full-size caravan, double horsebox or boat and trailer.
