What's the news?
The stylish, sporty-looking crossover you see before you is a SsangYong. I know, we couldn't believe it either. Dubbed the SIV-1, the new model is a concept set to make its world debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
Exterior
SsangYong describes the SIV-1 as a 'multi-interface, mid-premium CUV'. In terms of size, it's not far off the Range Rover Evoque and it appears to match it in terms of style.
The concept features LED daytime running lights at the front, with swathes of chrome found around the headlights and the upper and lower grilles. The chrome continues down the side of the car; culminating in two exhaust outlets and a chrome bumper insert. The high window-line, sloping roofline and pronounced styling creases help to create a sporty profile, too.
Interior
We currently know precious little about the inside of the SIV-1, except that it's fitted with four, independently adjusted bucket seats. It also has something called a Mobile Auto System, which SsangYong says is a two-way communication device - presumably allowing road users to contact one another on the move.
Mechanicals
Being a concept, we don't expect SsangYong to say too much about power figures when it's showcased in Geneva. If it were to make production, we would expect a range of diesel powertrains for the UK market.
Anything else?
So far, this is all we know about the SIV-1. No doubt we'll find out a lot more when it makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
