We have it on good authority that the M-version of the new BMW 3-series is quite a way off. Not that there is much wrong with the
current M3, but Audi's shiny new RS4 super saloon, shown
in Geneva out punches it on paper. This week Audi has announced that deliveries start in October at an on-the-road price of 20 quid under £50,000. That may well be £8k more than the current M3, but is likely to be on a par with the replacement.
