What's the news?
Mazda has unveiled the high performance MX-5 Yusho concept - with a supercharged engine - and the limited edition MX-5 Senshu at the Leipzig Motor Show. Two hundred Senshus will be built for the German market.
Exterior
The Yusho has a white vinyl body wrap and sits lower than the standard MX-5 thanks to shorter Eibach springs. The Senshu comes in red, white or black with matte black detailing - including the 17-inch alloys - and a contrasting stripe on the sides of the body.
Interior
Mazda hasn't mentioned any changes from the standard interior for either version.
Mechanicals
Cosworth has provided pistons and new fuel injectors for the Yusho's supercharged, 2.0-litre engine. Power is 250hp, an increase of 90hp over the standard car. The lowered springs are matched to a set of Bilstein dampers. No changes have been made to the engine or suspension of the Senshu.
Anything else?
Mazda claims the Yusho's extra power lifts the top speed to 155mph. There is no word on whether the concept will go into production though.
