What is it?
Well SsangYong is calling it a CUV (Crossover utility vehicle) and the press release mentions convertible a lot too. But essentially the XIV-2 concept is a three-door SUV with a large glass sunroof for the open air feeling. It's also only a concept - unsurprisingly.
Why's it here?
Well it's a concept car, and motor shows are the best place to display these. However, it's also said to embody everything that SsangYong stands for, and wants to be. The press release even mentions that the firm will build five-door, three-door and coupé versions. Just don't expect them to look quite like the concept when they arrive in the showroom.
Show stopper or floor filler?
Well SsangYong can be proud that this particular model should be considered a bit of a show stopper - not just because of its daring looks, but because of what it represents for the future of the company. Which is certainly more than can be said for the other metal on the maker's stand.
