The Kia Soul has received a range of visual and mechanical improvements for 2012. New, direct injection petrol engines, six-speed transmissions and updated styling were shown for the first time at the
New York International Auto Show.
Two new power units, of 1.6- and 2.0-litres, were revealed. The smaller motor produces 138bhp and 121lb.ft while the larger manages 160bhp and 143lb.ft. Both engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic is also available on the 2.0-litre.
Visual changes are fairly low-key. There are new projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a reshaped bonnet and restyled bumpers at both ends. The rear also features new LED lamps.
Kia will bring the 2012 Soul to the UK in the autumn although probably not the 2.0-litre petrol version. Prices and specification will be announced nearer that time.
