MINI has confirmed the introduction of a new high-performance diesel variant. A new, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, 143bhp diesel engine will power the Cooper SD, which will be available in the Hatch, the Convertible, the Clubman and the Countryman. The result is up to 65.7mpg and just 114g/km of CO
2, yet 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. Prices range from £18,750 to £23,190.
The MINI Sport Pack is a new trim level available for all models featuring a body kit and other exterior features. Inside it will offer John Cooper Works door entry strips, with the JCW theme being continued, along with a vibrant colour scheme. The Sport Pack will offer Dynamic Traction Control, Electronic Differential Lock Control and Dynamic Stability Control System. The price of the Sport Pack will range from £2,150 to £3,245.
For 2011, new MINI Special Editions will be available named after London boroughs, districts and landmarks, starting with the Clubman Hampton. The Hampton (pictured above) is to be painted in Reef Blue Metallic, specially developed for this particular model and features various interior and exterior tweaks. All models will be fitted with the Chili pack including automatic climate control, on-board computer, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and many more, including 17-inch alloy wheels. Prices will range from £20,360 to £23,185.
The MINI Pimlico is a follow-up to the Graphite Special Edition, a new Hatch special edition, available for a limited 12 months only. All models are finished in Laser Blue metallic paint with 16-inch twin spoke alloy wheels. It's priced from £14,465 to £18,490.
In other news, Sparkling Silver and Pure Silver will no longer be colour options, being replaced by Velvet Silver and Ice Blue.
The new Cooper SD models make their world debut at the
Geneva Motor Show in March.
