McLaren Automotive is gearing up for the launch of the MP4-12C in spring 2011 with the announcement of a new showroom in London. McLaren has teamed up with Jardine Motors Group and confirmed One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge as the location for its showroom. The new spectacle, to be known as, McLaren London, is anticipated to be one of McLaren's busiest retailers in the world.
Christian Marti, McLaren Automotive's European Regional Director, said: "One Hyde Park has already established itself as a landmark location in London, and we are both proud and excited to be part of its future success. The McLaren London showroom at One Hyde Park will represent everything we strive for at McLaren: great attention to detail, form and function in its visual impact and atmosphere, and a focus on the customers' requirements."
The new showroom is currently awaiting a bespoke fit-out. A McLaren Formula 1 racing car will also be on display for the 2,700 potential customers who have expressed an interest in the MP4-12C to admire.
McLaren Automotive has plans for a worldwide network of 35 showrooms with London, Birmingham, and Manchester representing McLaren in the UK. Other locations include: USA, Canada, Germany, South Africa, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong.
Powering McLaren's latest offering is a twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 592bhp. Top speed is estimated at 205mph with a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds.
McLaren's rival to
Ferrari's 458 Italia will be priced between £125,000 and £175,000 and is due on sale in the UK in the spring of 2011.
