Porsche will reveal its next generation Cayenne at the Geneva motor show next week. The arrival of the new SUV sees the introduction of the Cayenne S Hybrid model that features a supercharged V6 petrol engine assisted by an electric motor.
Combined, the output for the Cayenne S Hybrid is 380bhp. Helping provide its low emissions and consumption figures is the ability to run for short periods on electricity alone at speeds up to 40mph. With a combined fuel consumption figure of 34.4mpg and CO2 output of 193g/km, the Hybrid offers the lowest emissions in the new line-up.
The Cayenne S Hybrid will be joined by the 240bhp Cayenne diesel - its 38.2mpg combined consumption actually bettering that of the S Hybrid. At launch, the range will also include a 3.6-litre V6-engined Cayenne with 300bhp, the 400bhp 4.8-litre V8 Cayenne S and the range-topping Cayenne Turbo with 500bhp.
All models offer efficiency gains of around 20 percent over their predecessors. That's thanks to the introduction of a new eight-speed automatic transmission, an auto start-stop function, 'optimised thermal management', 'on-board network recuperation' and lightweight construction.
Completely re-styled inside and out, the Porsche Cayenne presents a smart new look to its customers. A 40mm longer wheelbase increases space inside and the new high quality interior apes the style of the Panamera. On sale from May 29 the Cayenne range starts at £41,178 for the 3.6 V6 and rises to £81,589 for the Turbo. The Cayenne S Hybrid costs £57,610.
