Maserati has announced the price of its GranCabrio at £96,630, which is a fair whack for a bit of a breeze in yer Barnet. However, it seems like fair value to us when you'll be able to listen to that delectable V8 engine all the more easily when right-hand drive versions reach UK showrooms in April 2010.
The GranCabrio uses the same 440bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine and six-speed automatic gearbox as
the coupé and covers 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds. Top speed is 175mph with the roof raised. To turn the coupé into a four-seater convertible the GranCabrio features structural braces to the underside, which Maserati says helps retain all of the driving appeal of the coupé, but with the added appeal of an open top.
As well as aiming to keep the hard-top's driving manners, Maserati has worked hard to make sure there is still seating for four plus their luggage. A fabric soft top is used rather than the more popular folding metal roof designs of some rivals. This also allows more boot room as the fabric hood does not need as much space as a metal folding roof.
Lucky customers for the Maserati GranCabrio will be offered a long list of options and extras to personalise their car, including fitted luggage to make the most of the boot space.
