British manufacturer Caparo Vehicle Technologies has announced new developments for its T1 supercar. There is a more powerful 'Race Extreme' track day car and a 'Climate Pack' air conditioning package. Caparo is also about to announce details of its worldwide sales channel.
The T1 Race Extreme is designed as the ultimate high-end track-day car. The V8 engine receives a power increase from 575 to 620bhp, still at a heady 10,500rpm. As the weight remains unchanged, the power-to-weight ratio is even more impressive than before. Caparo quotes a 0-62mph time of 2.8 seconds, 0-100mph in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 208mph. Even more impressive are the figures for maximum braking and cornering forces: 3.5g and 4g respectively. To put those numbers into perspective Formula 1 drivers experience 4g around corners and 5g under braking and the best road cars manage 1.3g for cornering or braking.
In response to customer demand, especially in hot climates, Caparo has developed a Climate Pack incorporating air conditioning. The full climate pack also includes a plexiglass canopy that opens by sliding forwards over the nose of the vehicle. Customers who prefer the open air can choose just the air-conditioning system. The climate pack costs £21,760 while the air conditioning unit is £3,750. As well as being offered as an option on new cars existing T1s can be upgraded.
Caparo will soon announce details of its global concessionaires. As well as sales and servicing the dealers will be able to arrange driver training and trackside support. Expect the announcement to be made in April.
