Ever fancied owning a Formula One car? Well there are two likely lads from Surrey that will sell you one for 150 grand. What's more, you can take a passenger and there is no need for an expensive flat bed trailer and support vehicle as you can drive it home from the track. Dubbed the Freestream T1, it will offer Le Mans style performance with an aero package designed to keep the 1000bhp per tonne on the black stuff.
These two lads are not just any two engineers with an eye on the glamorous end of the sports car market. They have had a hand in the development of the McLaren F1, courtesy of their experience working for the Surrey based F1 team. So, the design and development pedigree stacks up; what about the marketing angle? The newly formed consultancy is aiming the Freestream T1 at owners of high-end sports cars that are frustrated with the limitations of their current big boys' toys, customers that hanker after a no holds barred out-and-out racer that is road legal.
The T1 offers Formula 1 performance and styling with power delivered from a bespoke 2.4-litre V8 F1 specification engine pushing out 480 horses. All this in a frame weighing in at 465kg will result in trouser spoiling performance. As yet, there is little detail on the actual powertrain set up but more will follow.
Production limited to 25 a year will ensure an exclusive club that the backers of this project hopes to see the cars delivered to Monaco, Dubai and the Hollywood Hills. If your postcode falls in these areas then go to
www.freestreamcars.com, grab your Black Am Ex card and give the boys a call; if Ron Dennis trusts them then why not?!
