Hyundai has revealed plans to build an affordable new small SUV, which will go head to head with BMW's new X3.
Continuing the tradition of Southwestern themed names for its sport utility vehicles, it is thought that Hyundai will tag this small SUV the Tucson.
It will be much smaller than the Santa Fe and will be positioned as a budget alternative to the X3 and Land Rover Freelander.
Production will start early in 2004 and will be available with front wheel-drive or all-wheel drive configurations.
The engine range will include four-cylinder units and there will be a V6 model as well. We also expect a couple of diesel options.
