This is the BMW M4 /// M Heritage edition.

Sorry, what's with the '///' thing?

Yes, about that. It's meant to be a typographical way of describing the classic BMW M badge, but it's a bit silly. Shall we carry on with just calling this the M Heritage edition?

Yes please.

Right, well the M Heritage edition is the run-out version of the current M4 Coupe, and it will be launched at the DTM (German touring cars) race at the Nürburgring on September 13. Just 750 will be made between now and when the all-new M4 is launched next year and just 75 of those are coming to the UK.

So, it must be getting lots of extra power, right?

Not as such, no. It's just the standard M4's 450hp twin-turbo straight-six, but with new paint and new interiors.

Paint?

Oh yes. To match that M division badge, you can only have your M4 M Heritage car in blue (Laguna Seca), purple (Velvet Blue) or red (Imola Red). You also get a special carbon-fibre roof panel with the M stripe, and 20-inch alloys in Orbit Grey.

What about the cabins?

Well, aside from a numbered plaque and lashings and lashings of carbon fibre, the M Heritage cars also get special M sports seats with two-tone leather trim and contrast stitching. The colours are keyed to the exterior paint, so for Laguna Seca Blue or Velvet Blue, the seats come in Silverstone and Black with turquoise stitching or Velvet Blue and Orange, respectively. With the Imola Red paint, the seat colours Red and Black correspond with yellow and red contrast stitching.

When can I have one?

Sales kick off in November and production will end in April next year, so get your order in quick.
