Surprisingly, Hyundai's stand at the
Geneva Show next month does not centre around the all-new Accent, which actually was shown at the Chicago Auto Show this week. Instead, Hyundai is putting its efforts into promoting the new Santa Fe (as launched in
Detroit) and a new concept car.
The Hyundai Genus concept supposedly combines coupe with estate car, and Hyundai reckons that it previews a future production model, built to "respond to the developing customer tastes and expectations Hyundai has identified in the upper medium D-segment." The Genus is a good-looking car, with overtones of the Neos-3 concept shown in
Tokyo last year, but we're not so sure there is a large demand for sporting estates, certainly not from a maker normally associated with value-for-money. Like the Talus concept car in Detroit, we feel that this is a pretty pointless show car from Hyundai.
