What's all this about?

Winter is coming, but Mercedes-AMG has put its GT Roadster on sale, with prices starting at 110,145. There's also a range-topping GT R coupe available from 143,245.

Tell me about the Roadster.

To keep the weather out there's a three-layer fabric roof, which comes in a choice of three colours; black, beige or dark red. This is electrically operated and raises or lowers in around 11 seconds and can be used at speeds up to 31mph.
The GT Roadster comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, wind deflector, AMG exhaust system, heated AMG sports seats with Airscarf and black leather upholstery. Under the bonnet there's a 476hp, twin-turbo V8 which Mercedes claims will deliver a 0-62mph time of 4.0 seconds plus CO2 emissions of 219g/km and up to 30.1mpg.

What if I want more power?

There's the GT C Roadster for 139,445, which gets you an extra 81hp and cuts the 0-62mph time by 0.3 seconds. Emissions and fuel consumption figures for the GT C are 259g/km and 24.8mpg.
To help the GT C Roadster stand out there are 20-inch alloy wheels at the rear and red brake calipers with 'AMG' lettering. Other body changes include Active Air Control (flaps in the lower front bumper adjust with vehicle speed to increase high-speed stability and reducing drag). Burmester surround sound, Parktronic with reversing camera and Keyless-Go are part of the extra equipment.

If that's not enough?

There's the Mercedes-AMG GT R with 585hp for a claimed 3.6 second 0-62mph time. The other key figures are 259g/km CO2 emissions and 24.8mpg fuel economy. To help the flagship model stand out, it comes with carbon fibre roof, AMG GT R body styling, yellow brake calipers, AMG exhaust system and a static rear aerofoil. Inside you get the AMG Interior Night package; comprising black door sills, steering wheel, gear shift panels and black strut in the luggage compartment.
If you still want more then 'AMG Green Hell Magno' paint - as seen on the car's launch - is a 7,500 option. Other big ticket options include Carbon Ceramic brakes at 5,995, 3,895 for the AMG Carbon Fibre exterior trim package and the 1,685 AMG Track package.
