What's this all about?

Brabus likes to take powerful Mercedes and then make them even more powerful again. This time it has turned its attention to the capable C 63 Cabriolet to create the 650 Cabrio.

So, what has Brabus done?

Quite a bit more than just shorten the word 'Cabriolet', as it turns out. The 4.0-litre V8 now has bigger turbochargers, and combined with some electronic fettling by the ECU eggheads, power has jumped to 650hp, while torque is up to a tree-pulling 820Nm. That's had a noticeable effect on the performance figures, with 200mph now in reach, and the 0-62mph sprint can be dispensed with in 3.7 seconds.

Wow. How will everyone know that it's a 650?

In true tuner style, Brabus has stuck some carbon fibre on, although this effort isn't anywhere near as bad as some of the other Frankensteins that appear from time to time. The new front spoiler is claimed to give a useful reduction in lift, while other parts are purely cosmetic. Big, 20-inch forged alloy wheels complete the look, and inside aluminium has been used for the pedals and gearchange paddles. Blue highlighting and Brabus logos contrast with the black leather trim, while the speedo now reads all the way to 211mph...

Any other changes?

The variable dampers are complemented by new springs (adjustable for ride height), and a full stainless-steel exhaust system with switchable flap means that you can vary the decibel level from an ear-splitting roar to a discreet rumble. Handily, a full Brabus warranty is also offered.
