What's all this then?
Land Rover has created this, the Project Hero Discovery, a search-and-rescue special that it hopes will be eventually used by Red Cross teams around the world, helping those affected by natural disasters.
The Project Hero uses a roof-mounted camera drone, which can land itself on top of the car thanks to a magnet landing system. The drone can be sent out to search an area for those in need of help, and can send live video feeds to search and rescue teams using hand held devices.
The Project Hero also gets a slide-out floor that can act as a work bench, and power connection and equipment hard points in the boot. There's also a powerful multi-frequency radio system.
The concept car will be used by the Austrian Red Cross this summer for training, and the head of Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations unit (SVO), John Edwards, hopes that eventually it will be used by Red Cross operations across the world. "Land Rover and the team of engineers and designers at SVO are proud to support the incredible humanitarian work of the IFRC [International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies] and its members. Project Hero is the optimum combination of enhanced capability and innovative technology. We hope to help the Red Cross save lives in emergency situations" he said.
