What's the news?
Mazda is to give its new MX-5 Icon model a public debut at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
What's so different about the MX-5 Icon?
Each generation of MX-5 has seen Mazda produce a limited edition Icon model, and this is the fourth such variant to be introduced. It is based on the 1.5-litre version of the current MX-5 and features some distinctive styling.
It will be available in either Meteor Grey Mica or Crystal White Pearlescent paint at no additional cost. Each features door mirrors, front and rear spoilers and side stripe decals (not pictured) in contrasting Soul Red Metallic paint, while all cars will come on 16-inch Gunmetal alloy wheels too.
How many are going to be made?
Mazda has confirmed that just 600 will be produced. That will be the lowest number of all MX-5 Icon models. The first to third generation MX-5 Icon production numbers were 750, 1,583 and 1,250 respectively.
How much will it cost?
The MX-5 Icon will set you back £20,995 and, as well as the special paint job, standard equipment includes black leather seats, automatic headlights and wipers and rear parking sensors.
Anything else?
If you're heading along to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year you will also get the opportunity to see Mazda's new MX-5 RF. This uses a folding hardtop to give the MX-5 a more coupe-like side profile and is distinctly different to the roadster. There will also be the one millionth production MX-5 on display along with the stunning MX-5 Speedster and Spyder concept cars.
