It's a stunt to show off a new piece of optional equipment across the Vauxhall Corsa range, which is Advanced Park Assist (APA). And you know 'park' is very close to 'bark', right?
Oh no, I think I can see where this is going...
Yep. There's a video showing what happened with a dog at the wheel and it's called Parallel Barking, Gerty - the boxer in question - is said to 'execute the paw-fect parallel park' and she is then quoted (no, seriously) as saying Corsa owners would be 'barking mad not to try it out'. And the less said about the bit pertaining to 'Jeremy Barkson', the better.
So is APA similar to other manufacturers' parking systems?
It is indeed, with the video showing how the car detects a space and then computes the perfect manoeuvre into the vacant slot. It's a big-car bit of tech for the Corsa, though, so it's good news it has arrived in the B-segment machine.
Can I watch the clip?
If you must. To watch Gerty the boxer back a Corsa SE into a parking bay on Wimbledon High Street, just click play on the video below.
