What's this then?
Mercedes-AMG has released another new SUV with a slightly less bonkers set of performance figures, with the snappy nameplate of Mercedes-AMG GLE 450 AMG 4Matic.
What do you mean by less bonkers?
Well, power output is a mere 367hp (in comparison to the 585hp Mercedes-AMG GLE 63) while torque output is an adequate 520Nm from the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 engine. Although this might not be headline grabbing stuff, it also has a 32.8mpg combined fuel economy figure.
So how fast is it?
Mercedes-AMG says that it will hit 62mph in just 5.7 seconds from a standing start, which, considering its size, isn't too shabby. Drivers can also choose from five different drive modes including Individual, Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Sport Plus. The latter two lower the car's ride height by 15mm.
Will it be comfortable?
It should be, as Mercedes-AMG has equipped it with its Airmatic air suspension as standard and this includes a variable adaptive damping system (ADS Plus), as well as automatic level control. Depending on what drive mode is selected varying levels of comfort are applied. These settings also have an effect on the throttle responsiveness and power steering.
Anything else?
Inside, there are plenty of creature comforts; buyers will be able to choose from a variety of different trim options including aluminium or carbon fibre inlays while the steering wheel is leather upholstered and flat-bottomed. The pedals are also finished in brushed stainless steel with rubber studs to stop your feet from slipping around too much.
