What's all this Subaru-y stuff then?
Well, it's Tokyo show time and the Japanese car makers are starting to lay our their wares. Subaru will be bringing two significant concepts to the show, which are big pointers to where it's headed in the future.
The first is the Viviz concept SUV. We've seen that before, but Subaru has altered the styling a little and added some new high-tech - there's a 360-degree EyeSight camera system that allows the car to drive autonomously on the motorway and also to park itself for a start. It's also a hybrid, with a 1.6-litre diesel engine and an electric motor driving the front wheels, while twin electric motors drive the rear wheels.
Meanwhile there's a concept version of the next-generation Impreza, which previews not only sexier styling but also the first sight of an all-new platform that will eventually go on to underpin all future Subaru models. No tech details yet, but it's likely to go on sale next year after a reveal in production form at the Geneva Motor Show, and the engines are likely to feature some form of cylinder deactivation technology to save fuel.
Visitors will also be able to see the "SporVita Series", special editions of the WRX S4 and Legacy B4; the "S207", based on the WRX STI; and upgraded editions of the Forester and Subaru XV.
