What's all this about?
You could be looking at the new Mazda CX-7. Or even a CX-4 coupé crossover, possibly.
Why all the guesswork?
Ah, well this is the Mazda Koeru concept, a sharp-edged crossover SUV vehicle bearing classic Mazda 'Kodo' design themes that will be on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September. Mazda hasn't given us a lot of details - indeed, just this teaser image to feast upon.
What does Koeru mean?
It's the Japanese for 'exceed', or 'go beyond'.
Any word on the technology?
Other than the fact it'll have SkyActiv know-how, which means the engines, gearboxes and weight reduction in the bodyshell? No.
What else will Mazda be showing at Frankfurt?
Some SkyActiv engines, in the form of a 2.5-litre petrol, and 1.5- and 2.2-litre diesels, and the rest of its current range - the 2, 3 and 6, the all-new MX-5 MkIV and both of its existing SUVs/crossovers, the CXs 3 and 5.
