What's the news?
SsangYong may only be Korea's fourth largest automotive manufacturer, but it is the country's oldest, tracing its origins back to 1954. This year, therefore, marks the company's 60th anniversary, and the company has produced special edition versions of the Korando and Rexton W to mark the occasion.
Priced from £21,245, the 60th anniversary edition Korando gets 'pearl white lily' metallic paint and 18-inch, diamond cut wheels, plus special badges. Based on the ELX4 specification SsangYong has also added an electric sunroof, rear spoiler and chrome detailing.
More white paint and the same wheels are fitted to the 60th anniversary Rexton W. Based on the EX trim level additional equipment includes front parking sensors, heated seats, electric sunroof and DAB radio. With the six-speed manual transmission the anniversary model costs £25,995 and automatic transmission adds £1,500 to the cost.
Anything else?
The name SsangYong means 'double dragon' in case you've ever wondered and the company is backed these days by Indian engineering conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra. It is 20 years since the brand first appeared in the UK.
