What's the news?
The new turbocharged M3 and M4 twins might be looming large on the horizon, but that hasn't stopped German tuning house G-Power releasing its wildest version yet of the outgoing V8 model - it's called the Hurricane 337 Edition, on account of the fact it's the fastest V8 M3 G-Power, or indeed anyone else, has yet built: it has been clocked at 337.6km/h, or just shy of 210mph to you and I. Crikey.
Exterior
There are only going to be 30 Hurricane 337s created by converting existing M3s, in honour of G-Power's 30th anniversary. The car you see in the pics is actually the first customer car and you can set yours up in a bespoke manner - so you don't have to have the company's G3M Clubsport coilover suspension, 20-inch Silverstone Diamond alloys, uprated brakes and, er... side stripes if you don't want. Basically, some carbon-fibre addenda is all G-Power will supply, and some graphics too.
Mechanicals
The gist of G-Power's work is the SK II CS supercharger conversion, which dollops an additional 195hp and 195Nm into the M3 mix. That gives you peak outputs of 615hp at 8,100rpm, allied to 595Nm at 5,900rpm. This madhouse machine can knock off 0-124mph in 12.2 seconds on its way to that 209.8mph top whack.
It requires a new high-flow air intake with racing filter, a volumetric intercooler made out of cast aluminium and a cast aluminium airbox as well to liberate 615hp. G-Power also says a full titanium exhaust system with racing catalytic converters - that's 26kg lighter than the factory item - is 'mandatory'. Oh, and there's a Hurricane 337 Edition graphic on the airbox, too.
Anything else?
The G-Power world record speed for a V8 M3 was set at Nardo, in Italy. However, unlike other tuners, G-Power didn't trailer its M3 all the way there - instead it drove it 1,500km (937.5 miles) to Auto Bild's High Performance event. And it didn't even break G-Power's two-year old record (333.1km/h) at that, setting the 337km/h benchmark two days later due to failure of an insignificant part first time around.
Anyway, prices - converting your M3 will cost from 9,856.78 plus installation, with the exhaust a further 4,542. The optional coilovers are 2,445, the G-Power brakes 8,034 front and 5,634 rear, and the 20-inch wheels are 4,474. So, about 35,000, or £28,840 for the car in the pictures. And that excludes fitting costs, too!
