What's the news?
To mark the arrival of the new generation of Qashqai, Nissan has announced a Premier Edition that it will sell only to existing Nissan customers. The special edition will feature extensive levels of specification as standard. It will also feature distinctive Premier Edition badging in addition to being individually numbered.
Exterior
Nissan is only offering the Qashqai Premier Edition in a Pearl Black finish with 19-inch alloy wheels. It will be equipped with bi-LED headlamps - a first for this sector of the market apparently - which further complement the already bold front-end design.
Interior
Buyers who do decide to go for the Premier Edition will find themselves with a generously equipped car. The interior trim is part leather and Alcantara finished in a stone colour with contrasting black carpet and headlining. Front seat passengers will appreciate the heated seats while rear occupants get the added benefit of a large panoramic glass roof. Other aesthetic benefits include specially-branded Premier kick plates and chrome side door sills.
The new Nissan crossover is also loaded with technology, including the Japanese firm's Safety Shield. This encompasses several different safety systems such as Front Collision Avoidance, Driver Attention Support, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Moving Object Detection, High Beam Assist and Blind Spot Warning.
Additional infotainment technology that comes inside the Premier Edition is the new NissanConnect system, which combines satellite navigation and all the usual infotainment, including the ability to connect external music devices.
Mechanicals
Just one engine option will be offered with the Qashqai Premier Edition - the 1.6-litre dCi diesel engine. The new Qashqai will be able to take on more demanding terrains too as the advanced All-Mode 4x4-i transmission system as standard.
Anything else?
If you want to be the owner of a new Qashqai Premier Edition you'll need to be quick, as just 2,007 examples are planned for production. Why the odd number? That's the year that the first Qashqai was released. You will also need to be an existing Nissan owner too, as only these customers will be given the opportunity to purchase one.
