What's the news?
Spyker revealed a convertible version of the B6 Venator Coupé concept (that was unveiled five months ago at the Geneva Motor Show) in Pebble Beach. The new B6 Venator Spyder concept will be sold alongside its coupé counterpart, and is scheduled to reach Europe late next year.
Exterior
The B6 Venator Spyder carries over practically every styling detail from its coupé sibling. The company's aviation history is once again evident in the car's design, including its 3D LED rear lights that are fashioned to look like afterburners from modern-day jet fighters. The front lights are also fitted with aggressive-looking LED daytime running lights, while the V-shaped grille mesh is reminiscent of early Spyker models. Spyker's 19-inch TurbofanTM wheels also feature as standard.
Interior
Inside, the aviation theme continues. The propeller-styled steering wheel from the original Spyker C8 has been ditched for the B6; meaning that a safety-conscious airbag can be installed. The signature open gearshift mechanism still remains though; as does the classic toggle switchgear and brushed aluminium fascia. Spyker has even made starting the B6 Spyder an event by mounting the red starter button under a flap... like you're about to launch a missile or something.
Mechanicals
Details regarding the exact engine specification have yet to be confirmed, but what we do know is that Spyker has fitted the B6 Venator Spyder with the same mid-mounted V6 engine found in the coupé version. Power is also the same, at 375hp, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Anything else?
Prices for the UK market are expected to be around the £105,000 mark and, like the C8, we expect it to be an exceptionally rare sight on our roads.
