What's the news?
Swedish car maker, Spyker, unveiled a new concept model at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the B6 Venator, the mid-engined sports car is designed to make Spyker's financial future a little more stable than it has been in recent years.
Exterior
The combination of its large grille, angular headlights and bulging wheel arches gives the B6 a Ford GT-style look round the front; while after-burner-inspired, 3D rear lights keep things interesting round the back. The B6's profile features a long bonnet, a curved window line and an aviation-style glass cabin. New 19-inch TurboFan wheels help to complete the sporty look.
Interior
The 'rotor' design found on the steering wheel and in the air vents of previous Spykers has been replaced by a 'turbine' inspired theme instead. The brown leather, exposed gear selector, toggle switches and aluminium trimmed dash still remain however; and all pull together to create the same uniquely-designed cabin found in all modern Spykers.
Mechanicals
Power for the concept comes from a mid-mounted V6 unit that develops more than 375hp. This is sent through a six-speed automatic gearbox before drive hits the rear wheels. No performance figures have been released yet, but we would expect a 0-62mph time of less than 4.5 seconds and a top speed somewhere near 175mph.
Anything else?
Until now, the killer for all Spykers was the £300,000+ price tag. The B6 Venator should prove more popular though, costing a 911-rivalling £100,000. European production is expected to start early next year, while the US will have to wait until next autumn.
