What's the news?
BMW has announced a partnership with Schneider Electric for the manufacture and installation of the BMW i Wallbox.
The BMW i3 has been designed to work with a specially developed home charging unit that is said to provide a full charge in four hours. Schneider Electric will work with sales agents and customers to carry out home surveys, supply and installation of the charging point as well as on-going support and maintenance.
Anyone having a charging point installed can take advantage of the UK government's investment in electric vehicle infrastructure. A 75 per cent subsidy is available on home charging points, which brings the cost of the BMW i Wallbox down to £315 including VAT.
Anything else?
BMW says this is the first time a vehicle manufacturer has partnered directly with a charging point manufacturer for charging facilities in the home. BMW AG and Schneider Electric are working together not just in the UK but around the globe.
