What's the news?
German tuner ABT Sportsline has gotten its hands on the latest Audi S6 Avant and created this: the ABT AS6-R. A body kit, new wheels and more power feature in the upgraded model, creating, "the perfect combination of Audi S6 and ABT AS6," according to Hans-Jurgen Abt, CEO of ABT Sportsline.
Exterior
Following the typical ABT recipe, a new body kit has been designed for the AS6-R; much of which is made out of carbon fibre. The front and rear bumpers have both been replaced, and a set of skirts are found running up the side. The rear end also features a new roof spoiler, while four exhaust outlets protrude from the new bumper. Bespoke 21-inch 10-spoke alloys fill the car's arches and are finished in gun-metal grey.
Interior
The cabin of the AS6-R mimics that of the standard Audi S6. This means that buyers will enjoy four-zone climate control, a 6.5-inch MMI infotainment system, leather-trimmed and embossed sports seats, a sports steering wheel and a 10-speaker sound system, as well as Audi's usual high-quality fit and finish.
Mechanicals
The 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine under the bonnet is lifted straight from the standard car; however, differences have clearly been made. Power is up from 420hp to a massive 600hp - giving it 40hp more than the original RS6 - and torque has been increased from 550Nm to a meaty 750Nm. This has been achieved by using 'ABT POWER S' technology, or in layman's terms, by fitting a bigger turbo and playing around with the ECU. This turn of power means that 0-62mph is dealt with in 3.9 seconds and the top speed is up to a limited 192mph... with or without the whole family and camping equipment on board.
Anything else?
While prices and UK availability have yet to be announced, it's fair to say that there will be a sizable premium on the regular Audi S6 Avant's £56,725 list price if the ABT version ever hits our shores.
