Building on its history of single-model race events, Caterham has announced that it will be hosting an entry-level karting race series in 2014.
Aimed at a maximum of 120 participants ranging from 13-16 years of age the race series is open to novice drivers only in order to keep the racing as fair and close as possible.
For the championship, Caterham has launched its CK-01 kart; which the company claims has been designed with simplicity, durability and quality in mind. A prototype of the CK-01 is currently on display at the Autosport International Event at Birmingham's NEC - where the event will run until 13th January.
The entry-level championship doesn't seem to break the bank too much either. A total of £4,995 plus VAT (equating to around £6,000 in total) covers pretty much everything. The one-off payment includes the kart, guidance to obtain an ARKS racing licence, a paddock trolley and entry to the race season. As each of the six race events will take part in six single days travelling costs will be fairly low too.
Tony Fernandez, CEO of the Caterham Group said, "With tight regulations and transparent costs, Caterham Karting will be the best value, most competitive and most fun karting in the world. Motorsport for all is finally here."
